Algarvian Snow – Ektachrome

February 2, 2010 Algarve, Silves No Comments

Mandelbaum I love the winter where I live. Of course (and sometimes unfortunately) we don’t have snow, but there’s a small chance, at least once in 100 years.
The last time this happened was more than 60 years ago.

The weather in the Algarve is like spring in other places. Some rain, fresh leafes and beautiful blossoms. End of January is the time of the almond blossom, a very nice compensation for not having snow.

Yesterday we had 18°C, a good opportunity to put some old film in your old camera, I choose a Kodak Ektachrome EPR64, to accentuate the blue and then the Ektachrome 100VS for the warmer blossoms.

The Ektachrome EPR64 is out of production for many years, but I still have a small batch in my fridge.
I find it quite satisfying how majestic the EPR64 renders the sky and blossoms.

Camera Contax III with Zeiss Sonnar 5cm f1.5, Film Kodak Ektachrome EPR64 and Ektachrome 100VS, self-developed and scanned.
